OUR DATA PROTECTION PRACTICE
Our data protection practice in Scotland delivers exciting compliance projects for many of the best-known brands around the world. We are recognised by legal directories as being a market leader.
We are on the hunt for a Data Protection Paralegal who would relish the opportunity to develop an expertise in an ever-evolving area of legal compliance – no previous experience in data protection law is needed – simply a drive to excel and learn.
The candidate would work directly with the team and partners in the practice and would have the chance to work across sectors that our firm prides itself in operating in including:
• retail and consumer;
• financial services
• tech and digital;
• healthcare and life sciences; and
• energy and utilities.
THE ROLE
The candidate will work on a range of data protection and privacy matters, supporting the UK data protection team. For the right candidate, this is a chance to thrive.
The role will involve:-
• supporting our data subject access request service responding to data protection rights requests – working directly with the team undertaking document reviews, applying redactions and helping manage disclosures for clients;
• managing administration of requests including ensuring review platforms are properly managed and data uploaded from our clients for review; and
• ensuring client work trackers are up to date.
The successful candidate for this role will be part of our paralegal team (called TST) but will be "embedded" in our Commercial team in Aberdeen or Edinburgh.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (BESPOKE TO ROLE)
Due to the dynamic nature of the work the role is not an ordinary "9-5" job.
For the right person, this role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to our proven success by utilising a wide set of skills essential to a career with AG.
Whilst some experience in the space of data protection and privacy would be useful, it is not essential. A successful candidate will need the following skills and competencies:
• a high level of attention to detail;
• effective personal, organisational and time management skills, and the ability to juggle multiple demands;
• strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels;
• a positive, enthusiastic and proactive approach to work;
• a strong work ethic and a desire to develop and succeed;
• the ability to work to tight timescales with a sense of urgency;
• common sense, commerciality and the ability to exercise sound judgment;
• an interest in, or experience of, using technology to deliver work.
