PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We are looking for a Managing Associate to join our market-leading Finance team in Frankfurt. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside leading finance lawyers on high-value domestic and cross-border transactions for an exceptional international client base.

THE TEAM 

The German Finance practice advises domestic and international clients on a broad range of complex financing transactions. The team combines deep technical expertise with a commercial, solutions-focused approach, supporting clients across the full financing lifecycle.

Working closely with colleagues across the firm's international network and other practice areas, including Corporate, Restructuring, Real Estate and Tax, the team advises on acquisition finance, corporate lending, syndicated and bilateral facilities, refinancing, real estate finance and other structured finance transactions as well as financial restructurings. The team is recognised for building strong client relationships, delivering pragmatic legal advice and working collaboratively on complex, cross-border matters.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE 

You will join a market-leading Finance team advising clients on a broad range of domestic and cross-border financing transactions. Working alongside experienced partners and associates, you will advise international banks, financial institutions, corporate borrowers, private equity sponsors, private credit providers and investment funds across sectors including financial services, real estate, infrastructure and energy, collaborating with colleagues across our international network on complex, high-value matters.

  • Take ownership of drafting, reviewing and negotiating key transaction documents, with increasing responsibility as your experience develops.
  • Manage transaction workstreams and coordinate effectively with clients, opposing counsel and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Corporate, Restructuring, Real Estate, Tax and other practice areas on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters.
  • Build strong client relationships by delivering commercially focused, practical legal advice.
  • Develop your technical expertise through exposure to high-quality, market-leading finance work.
  • Receive regular coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback to support your professional development.
  • Participate in structured training programmes and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance your legal and commercial skills.
  • Be encouraged to contribute to business development activities, including client pitches, publications, seminars and networking events.

AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  •  A minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) gained within a leading international or comparable national law firm.
  • Strong experience advising on a broad range of banking and finance matters, including real estate finance, acquisition finance, corporate lending, syndicated and bilateral facilities, refinancing and general corporate finance transactions.
  • Experience acting for financial institutions, corporate borrowers, private equity sponsors and other market participants.
  • A strong technical understanding of finance law, with excellent drafting, negotiation and transaction management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and build trusted adviser status with clients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach, with experience mentoring and supporting the development of junior lawyers.
  • A proactive mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to business development, client initiatives and knowledge-sharing activities.
